I have written since I could clutch a pencil and make words on paper.
I had a wonderful teacher at junior school who encouraged my stories and poetry. He showed me how to make books from boards and fabric tape and paper. He asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I told him I wanted to be an author. Instead of laughing at a child using a big grown-up word, he took me totally seriously. Over the years I have pieces of fiction published here and there - short stories, poetry, monologues. I have a successful career as a science and medical writer. But it’s only now that I have a book out, I feel that I can really call myself an author. Thank you Mr Padmore.
